Well of course it was! You don't just think those thoughts come out of the sky? Khufu and the guy who designed the pyramids had to think about technology when they were first going to build the pyramids. They had to think about where the pyramids were going to go, where the chambers were going to be located, and what the stones were going to be made of. Also, it would be a matter of how big they were going to be. You know that when they were building the pyramids they had to get the bottom of the limestone wet so that it would slide a little bit easier because they weighed over 2 tons! Ya I know that is so weird. They also had to use these pole looking things to push underneath so the men carrying the limestone wouldn't be breaking their backs! (LOL!!!) Don't forget about the inside of the pyramids. They found empty sarcophagi in the pyramid but technically only Khufu was buried in the big pyramid. Pyramids were the place for the Pharaohs to be buried. It took 20 years to build one pyramid. Usually, though, the pharohs would be buried under the ground even in the pyramids. They had to make sure the ground was level before the pyramids were going to be built. The Valley of the Kings is also where most of the other pharohs were buried.

farming was technology?
Ya it really was. With everything that the farmers do it is technology. In Egypt, there was technology in farming because of all the advancements they had. What kind of advancements are you thinking? Well the advancements they had went from as easy as using the shaduf to making canals. There was so much technology used. They would also use irrigation canals to water the desert because most of Egypt was desert. The canals were dug up by the Egyptians. Canals and the shaduf are such great ways to use technology instead of taking the water all the way from the Nile just to use a little bit of water. So canals were a good thing. Also farming and cropping was another advancement that they had. I mean just making food is advancements? Ya it doesn't seem like cropping would be an advancement, but it really was!
Technolgy Big in Egypt?
Yes! Now why would technology be a big part in Egypt? Well technology isn't just random things in Egypt it is a big part. Technology is involved with farming/food. It is also involved in making the lime stones and building the pyramids. What more you ask ...well the shaduf was not even invented there but a huge part in the Egyptian society. Ya totally crazy. What else do you think is involved with technology? Simple stuff like wall paintings? Ya that is totally right. :)
Art Technology?
Ya I know what you are thinking. When I say art in your mind would you ever think about art being technology? Probably not, but it is! Art can be from paintings on the walls to making papyrus. Technology in Egypt isn't just inventions it has to do with a lot of stuff. Art! The pictures on the left and on the right are both pictures of cave paintings. The Egyptians believed that if you did art on the wall before you died then you would have a good afterlife. Building the pyramids was technology and art. So obviously every person would want to have a good afterlife, so they would try and do cave paintings.

Shaduf Invented
Oh My Gosh! Did you know that the shaduf wasn't invented in Egypt. Ya I know crazy, right? They used it so much for irrigation and it wasn't even invented there. It was first seen on an Akkad cylinder seal in the 3rd millennium. Technically Egypt had never even heard of it or seen it until 1550 B.C. So how did they water crops before the shaduf? Canals of coarse, Duh.
So the shaduf wasn't invented there, but it was a huge part in Egypt and technology. The shaduf would usually have a weight on the end so that the bottom of the shaduf would be less weight. The person would normally be on land or a platform so that they wouldn't fall in the water. That is all the technology you have to think about when you want to make or think of a shaduf.
